Xul1349 was never born; he just woke up. There was no creation, no magic, no CGI, no Rosemary’s baby-like birth, no discontinuity in the space – time continuum. He just opened his eyes and realized he is trapped in the mind of the most average guy you could meet in a lifetime, surrounded by the darkness of a meaningless life, wrapped in vail of indifference and muffled by the thick fabric of mediocrity.
So he quickly understood that there is only one thing to be done in order to avoid being thrown into the cold cage of oblivion somewhere at the frontiers of the human consciousness and be lost forever; he had to take over the mind and the flesh and shake off the shackles of laziness and boredom become the creative force he is today.
He found in the merchandise design scene the perfect environement to grow as an artist, improve his skills and define the belief system that constitute the essence of his work. It was a long journey but being around masters of this craft like Godmachine, Joshua Andrew Belanger, Dan Mumford and many more helped Xul1349 to find his own path while keeping a rigorous ethic code that earned the respect of his clients and of the fellow artists.
In the last 10 years he had the chance to work with more than 50 clients most of them metal bands or indie brands, in a constant effort to offer the best client-artist experience no matter the level of fame or success. He is proud to say that he never had an unsatisfied customer he even become friends with most of them, keeping in touch over the years.
He also have a cat. And a beard.

Q: I just came across this site but I am not sure what is going on here. Where should I start?
A:This is the online lair of the merchandise designer and illustrator known as Xul1349. It is a good idea to start on the Portfolio page, where you can see some of my past work, ongoing projects or sketches and ideas for future ones. If you want to get a little bit of background you can read the About page or check my Blog. For even more stuff follow me on Social Media.
Q: Alright I got it! Oh wow your work is the most majestic thing in the universe! What do you use to create it?
A: It varies. For my regular work my weapon of choise is a Wacom Cintiq 12wx along with Manga Studio Mx4. It’s the most analogic way to draw digitally.
For sketching/ b&w drawing i usually choose Steadler pencils or Derwent Inktense if I go for color. The great thing about this pencils is that you can soak them in water to become more intense.
For anything else I use random generic brands I find while roaming through art supplies stores.
Q:I am interested in owning some of your work. Where can I find it?
A: Your first stop should be my Store where you can find all the stuff I release on my own such as limited edition posters, artprints, various random goodies or even apparel.
If you are interested in the work I did for a particular band/brand, go to their online store or their merchandise booth if you are attending their concerts.
Q: I have more questions, can I contact you ?
A:Sure, don’t be shy! Feel free to ask me anything. Drop me a line in the Contact page.
Q: What can you do for us?
A:Pretty much everything that uses my skills. Apparel design, cd covers, posters, anything. If you have an idea and it involves illustration, I can make it happen.
Q: That sounds good but how much would you charge us?
A: Well that depends on a lot of things. Before I can give you an estimate I must know a few details about your project, so feel free to drop me a line through my Contact page with a little briefing of what you are looking for.
Q: But I do not know what I want exactly. Can you help me?
A: Sure. When you are hiring me, my creativity is at your disposal. I will help you not only materialize the concept you are looking for, but also shape it and definine it.
Q:Let’s move forward. What should we do next?
A:First of all, make sure the concept we defined it’s what you want. After that you should pay a deposit equal with 50% of the agreed price. After that, the ball is in my court; I will start working on it and provide you with regular previews.
Q: Perfect. Now that we have the design, we need some help with the printing. Can you give us a hand?
A: Sure. I offer assistance until the moment the design is printed. I can give you advices or even suggest a few good printers I worked with over the years. Hell, if needed I can handle the entire process myself.
Q: We approved and paid for the design but we need some changes. How much will it cost us?
A: If the design wasn’t printed already, and the changes do not affect more than 15% of the design, IT’S FREE. Color changes are free anytime.
